Russia has begun delivery of component kits for the indigenous production of the Sukhoi fighter jets in India. The first two sets of SU-30MKI parts were despatched from Irkutsk, Siberia, on Monday and are due to reach Nasik on Tuesday, the IRKUT Aircraft Corporation head, Alexei Fyodorov, said. With the supply of the components, India will embark on the ambitious programme of manufacturing 140 SU-30MKI multi-role long-range fighters under licence from Russia. The programme was moving ahead strictly on schedule, Mr. Fyodorov told reporters here. The first planes will roll out before the end of the year.
