No common currency for Russia, Belarus on January 1, 2005 - Putin
SOCHI. June 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and Belarus are unlikely to adopt a common
currency on January 1, 2005.
"It is unlikely that we will be able to realize the plans to introduce the Russian ruble on the territory of
Belarus from January 1, 2005," Putin said after meeting with his Belarussian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in
Sochi on Saturday.
At the same time, he stressed that "from the point of view of specialists and the economic interests of Belarus
and Russia, these issues have practically been resolved." "We are currently at the political-psychological
