Tajik Social Democrats to publish paper
The Social Democratic Party of Tajikistan is to launch a weekly beginning from June, the Tajik newspaper Vecherniy Dushanbe reported on 4 June. Quoting the deputy leader of the party, Shokirjon Hakimov, the report said the newspaper will be called "Social Democrat" and come out in two languages - Tajik and Russian. "The launching of the newspaper is in the first instance a tactical move made as part of the party's strategy for the forthcoming (2005) parliamentary elections," the paper quoted Hakimov as saying. (The report ran to about 120 words)
