04 June 2004 20:48 Russia could join WTO by end 2005 - Zhukov (Part 2) MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russia could join the World Trade Organization by the end of 2005, Deputy Prime Minister
Alexander Zhukov said at the Corporate Governance and Economic Growth in Russia conference.
Solutions can be found at accession talks with Russian trade
partners - witness the terms for joining the WTO set down by the EU,
"The main thing for Russia is not joining the organization as quickly as possible," Zhukov said. The
government will insist that accession to the WTO meets the interests of Russian companies, he said.
Zhukov said.
The government's strategic line is that "Russia becomes a full- fledged participant in global trade and
that the interests of Russian companies are observed in their entirety," he said. [RU ASIA EUROPE EEU EMRG WTO TRD
