03 June 2004 12:45 TECHNIMONT TO BUILD RUSSIA`S 1ST SUSPENSION POLYETHYLENE LINE MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Salavatnefteorgsintez, a petrochemicals company in Bashkortostan, and the Italian concern
Technimont have inked a contract for building facilities to make suspension polyethylene at the Russian enterprise, this
being a product currently not produced in Russia.
"Salavatnefteorgsintez is one of Russia's top petrochemicals industry companies. The new line will let the
company not only arrange for producing the necessary raw material for domestic consumers, but also to expand its export
opportunities," the press service quotes company board chairman Alexander Ryazanov.
The Gazprom press service has announced that the 120,000-tonne/year production line will take three years to build.
Salavatnefteorgsintez already produces over seventy different products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel
oils, liquefied gases, butylene, ammonia, carbamide, polyethylene, polystyrene, sulfur and a wide assortment of
household goods made from plastics. Technimont became its partner after winning a tender for designing a project and
supplying and installing equipment for producing suspension polyethylene. Ryazanov (who is also a top Gazprom
executive), Bashkortostan's President Murtaz Rakhimov and Technimont representatives signed the contract at the
Italian Embassy in Moscow on Wednesday.
