Market probed for Land Launch space project
MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Russian specialists are studying the market for Land Launch, a new project to use Zenit-class rockets to launch satellites from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Land Launch is a project of the international Sea Launch consortium, which launches space vehicles from a floating platform in the Pacific Ocean. "At the moment, specialists are researching this market, and this fact is evidence that there are prospects for this project," Sergei Kravchenko, vice president for international relations at Boeing and its president for Russia and the CIS, told a news conference. Sea Launch and International Space Services company signed an agreement in Moscow in mid-January on cooperation principles for Land Launch. They hope the project's first commercial launch will take place in the fourth quarter of 2005. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG AER] as tl <>
