Moscow businessman may join Chechen presidential race
GROZNY. June 3 (Interfax) - Moscow businessman Malik Saidullayev arrived in Grozny on Thursday to submit his documents to the Chechen elections committee, thus becoming the third potential candidate for the republic's presidency. Saidullayev said he will not collect signatures from supporters, but will submit 4.95 million rubles as an election deposit. This sum will be transferred to Chechnya's budget if he gains less than 5% of the vote. "What happened to me in 2003 will not be repeated. I was excluded then from the presidential race for technical reasons. This will not happen again," Saidullayev said. The Chechen elections committee is also examining documents submitted by two other potential candidates: Urus-Martan resident Mariyet Gorchkhanova and Chechen presidential adviser Vakha Visayev.
