02 June 2004 17:13 AVTOFRAMOS TO START PRODUCING NEW RENAULT AUTOS IN MID 2005 PARIS. June 2 (Interfax) - Avtoframos, a Russian-French joint venture, will start producing a new Renault model
called the Logan, Renault President Louis Schweitzer said during a presentation at Renault's service center outside
Paris.
The model, which was previously loosely called the X-90, will be named the Logan.
Russia will be the second country to produce the Logan, Schweitzer said, adding that Avtoframos would have capacity
to produce 60,000 such cars a year.
Interfax asked Schweitzer when a decision would be made on increasing capacity and he answered that such a decision
would be made before 2010, probably sometime in 2007.
The Logan model is targeted to be produced in Romania (where
production will begin in 2004), Iran, Russia and a number of other
countries. Schweitzer did not rule out the possibility of making a

Renault and the City of Moscow signed an agreement in February 2003 on developing car production at Avtoframos.

The Logan is a 'C' category car. Its development is part of a Renault decision to expand to markets outside
of Western Europe.
