02 June 2004 17:13 RUSSIA HOPES FOR FURTHER CREDIT RATING UPGRADE - PM MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Russia hopes the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development will provide
Russia with further assistance in achieving credit rating upgrades, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said at a meeting
with OECD Secretary General Donald Johnston.
"We hope that positive dynamics (rating upgrades) will continue along with the further liberalization of the
Russian economy," Fradkov said.
Russia's creditworthiness rating has climbed from the seventh group of risks to the fourth since October
2000.
"Russia has observer status in the OECD and takes part in the work of various committees and working groups. Now
we are analyzing the terms for joining and looking at the terms this requires, we have started discussing ways to join
the organization," Fradkov said.
