GAZPROM NOT CONSIDERING BUYING YUKOS ASSETS
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Russian gas giant Gazprom is not considering acquiring Yukos assets, has no information about the sale of that company's assets and is not interested in destabilizing the situation at the oil company, Sergei Kupriyanov, press secretary to the Gazprom CEO, told Interfax. "Announcements regarding possible acquisitions are not in the jurisdiction of Gazprom executive Vlada Rusakova, and her words on this topic are not the company's official position,": he said. Rusakova said at a briefing on Tuesday, in response to a question about the possibility of Gazprom purchasing Yukos assets if Yukos goes bankrupt and its assets are sold, said "if they are sold and it is effective for Gazprom, the company will participate in acquiring the assets." "The topic of buying Yukos assets does not exist," Kupriyanov said. He also said that it should be noted that Gazprom plans to implement a number of joint projects with Yukos, and is not interested in destabilizing the situation at a company that may become a partner.
