Three Yabloko members arrested during Moscow rally
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Three activists of Russia's Yabloko party were arrested during a rally near the State Duma on Wednesday, but were later released, a spokesman for the party's Moscow branch, Sergei Kazakov, told Interfax. During the rally, which had not been sanctioned by the authorities, Yabloko and Communist Party members protested new laws on referendums and rallies, and a planned reform of the election system. The protesters held up banners reading, "No to disgracing the state," "Let's protect democracy," and "No to a police state." Attempts by police to make arrests led to a scuffle in which protesters tried to free the detainees. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG VIO LAW POL] as tl <>
