Russian prosecutors appeal against "lenient" mine wage arrears sentence
The Prosecutor-General's Office has appealed against the sentence passed yesterday on the former director of the Yeniseyskaya mine in Khakassia. The court's decision is seen as unfair and too lenient. An appeal was lodged for the sentence to be quashed and the case to be sent for re-trial. Let me remind you that the court in the town of Chernogorsk in Khakassia yesterday sentenced former Yeniseyskaya mine director Ten Yen Tak to an R80,000 fine and barred him from taking managerial posts. Ten Yen Tak had been accused of deliberately failing to pay mineworkers' wages.
