Letter: Global warming

THE latest Hollywood blockbuster showing at every local cinema features the menace of global warming. Perhaps it will
wake up even President Bush to the idea that action is needed. The story may be fiction but climate change is real and
human activity is causing it.
The Russians have just confirmed that they will ratify the Kyoto Protocol,providing the extra votes needed to bring
it into force. This is possible only because the European Union ba ttled to keep the Kyoto agreement alive when the USA
