Russia, Norway agree to continue talks on their Barents Sea border
Oslo, 2 June: Russia believes that "without waiting for agreement to be reached on the dividing line in the Barents Sea, thought should be given to joint efforts by Russian and Norwegian companies to develop oil and gas deposits", Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said here today. At the same time, "this does not do away with the need to reach agreement on the dividing line", he said. According to Sergey Lavrov, "two thirds of the work has been done". "We agreed to continue the work of agreeing the outstanding issues," the Russian foreign minister observed. "We think it will be easier to make progress along this road."
