Protesters beaten up outside Duma, says Russian party
The Federal Protection Service [FPS] has once again beaten up peaceful pickets. It happened at a protest action outside the state Duma attended by activists of the Yabloko party and representatives of the Vanguard of Red Youth. They were protesting against the introduction of amendments to the law "On referendums". A statement issued by the Yabloko party said law-enforcement staff manhandled State Duma deputy Aleksandr Kuvayev [from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation] and several other protesters. Police and FPS staff pushed away journalists, and seized their cameras. Several protesters and journalists were beaten up by law-enforcement staff.
