Moscow court takes break in probing Yukos tax suit
MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - The Moscow Arbitration Court has taken a break until June 2 in examining a protest by the Russian oil company Yukos against a Tax Ministry order that the oil group pay alleged tax arrears of more than 99.4 billion rubles ($3.4 billion), including interest. Yukos challenged the results of a 2000 audit by the ministry. Nevertheless, the latter filed a suit against the company, claiming more than 99.4 billion rubles. Yukos filed a countersuit. On May 19, the court responded by suspending the ministry's order, but on May 26, it ordered the company to pay the sum. Meanwhile, the court is probing Yukos's suit. The current break was requested by the Tax Ministry, which said it needed to prepare some documents. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG LAW OIL CRU PROD ELG ENR CRIM] as tj
