Russia`s cumulative foreign investment up at 57.1bn dollars in March 2004
Moscow, 31 May: The total cumulative foreign investments in Russia's economy amounted 57.1bn dollars as of 31 March 2004, up 32.6 per compared to 31 March 2003, Russia's Economic Development and Trade Ministry said in a report released today. As of March 31, foreign direct investments (FDI) accounted for 43 per cent of the total investments, portfolio investments accounted for 2.5 per cent, and other investments accounted for 54.5 per cent. As of 31 March 2003, FDI accounted for 45.5 per cent of the total investments, portfolio investments accounted for 2.7 per cent, and other investments accounted for 51 per cent. The main investors came from Germany, the US, Cyprus, Great Britain, France, and the Netherlands, which account for 72.4 per cent of total foreign investments and 75 per cent of direct foreign investments. In January-March, foreign investments in Russia totalled 6.171bn dollars, down 1.5 per cent year on year, including 1.476bn in FDI, up from 1.034bn dollars in January-March 2003.
