Russia`s Putin puts deputy premier in charge of labour disputes
[Presenter] President Vladimir Putin has instructed Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov to speed up the preparation of documents on setting up the Single Economic Space, which consists of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus. This was discussed today at a meeting between Putin and members of the cabinet. Putin said that intensive work was needed, including over the holiday period. Some people will have to work hard during the summer holidays, the president said. He also announced one more government appointment. [Putin, addressing the cabinet] Deputy Prime Minister [Aleksandr] Zhukov is appointed coordinator of the Russian tripartite commission on resolving social and labour problems. This post has always been held by a deputy prime minister. Despite the fact that there are now less of them, owing to administrative reform, I think that the post should remain at this level and I ask you, Aleksandr Dmitriyevich [Zhukov], to start this work as soon as possible.
