Interview with rebel"s widow axed from TV show
A report featuring an interview with the widow of Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev, a former Chechen rebel leader killed in Qatar earlier this year in a blast strongly believed to have been masterminded by Russian security agents currently on trial in Doha, was axed from Leonid Parfyonov’s Namedni weekly show on the NTV channel.

The report was pulled from the program on instructions from the acting director general Aleksandr Gerasimov after it had already been aired in parts of the Russian Far East.

Namedni’s host Leonid Parfyonov told the Kommersant daily that Gerasimov had banned the report at the request of Russian security services. The 5-minute report prepared by Yelena Samoilova featured an interview with Malika Yandarbiyeva.

Last year NTV’s president Nikolai Senkevich cancelled a piece on Yelena Tregubova, a former Kremlin pool journalist who had written a sensational tell-all memoir “Tales of a Kremlin Digger”. NTV planned to air the report on Namedni.
