EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT SEEKS BROADER BUSINESS TIES WITH RUSSIA
MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who arrived in Moscow on an official visit on Thursday, praised political contacts with Russia and underscored the need for expanding bilateral trade and business ties. issues are very sensitive and vital for the world, and we have been actively working on them together with Russia. We are engaged in a continuing dialogue. I would like our relations to continue on a permanent basis since they are in the interests of both Egypt and I would describe [bilateral relations] as highly successful. It concerns the political area, which involves our constant exchange of views on key global policy issues, including our region's problems, the Middle East, Iraq, and the fight against terrorism. I am going to discuss these top priority issues with President [Vladimir] Putin. These Russia, Mubarak said in an interview with Russia's Rossiiskaya Gazeta published on Thursday. It is true that we want to see broader and more sound trade and business contacts [with Russia]. Apart from benefiting both nations, they can have a [positive] impact on the region as a whole, the Egyptian president said.
