27 May 2004 00:10 Duma toughens punishment for terrorism MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - The State Duma on Thursday passed in a second reading amendments to the Criminal Code
that would toughen punishments for terrorism.
Some 402 deputies voted in support of the measure, with the minimum number of votes needed to pass the amendments
being 226.
Especially grave terrorist crimes will carry a minimum sentence of eight years behind bars, rather than the earlier
