27 May 2004 22:56 Cadence opens development center in Russia MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - The U.S. company Cadence Design Systems has opened a research, development and technical
support center in Russia.
Cadence Chairman of the Board Ray Bingham said at a press conference held to mark the opening of the Moscow office
that the first Russian electronic design automation (EDA) research and development center was the result of an
investment program being carried out in Russia as part of the company's globalization strategy.
He said that total Cadence investment in opening the office and also in educational and scientific programs in Russia
over the past several years has amounted to several millions of dollars. He said that the company plans to continue
investing in its development center in Moscow, and also in various educational and scientific programs. Bingham said
that by the end of the year the Moscow office would house more than 70 employees, who will focus on EDA tool
development, including methodology services.
"Russia has become a center of electronic design excellence, with many major global technology companies having
facilities here," said Bingham. "There are many exceptionally talented electronic designers and engineers in
Russia. This research and development center will become one of the cornerstones of electronic design excellence in this
