Ministry outlines Russia`s inflation forecast, expects 10 per cent for 2004
Moscow, 28 May: Russia's inflation is expected to amount to 6.5-8.5 per cent in 2005, according to the latest forecast by Russia's Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Andrey Klepach, the director of the ministry's macro-economic forecasts department, told reporters today. In 2006, inflation is expected to stand at 7.5 per cent, while in 2007, it is expected to decline to 6 per cent, he said. In 2004, inflation is forecast to fall to 10 per cent from 12 per cent in 2003, he noted. The government should cut the annual inflation rate to 3 per cent in the next few years, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday [26 May] in his annual state of the nation address before parliament.
