26 May 2004 23:57 Belarussian government to hold inflation at 13% in 2004 MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - The Belarussian government plans to hold inflation in 2004 at 13% instead of 14%-19%, as
planned in the socio-economic forecast for the year, Economics Minister Nikolai Zaichenko said at a government meeting
on Tuesday.
He said that to achieve this aim average monthly inflation should not exceed 0.75%, while in January-April this
indicator amounted to about 1.5% per month.
Zaichenko said that it would be possible to keep within such strict parameters in the remaining eight months if the
republic sticks to planned growth in tariffs in the residential utility sphere and transport, and also in prices for
alcohol, meat and dairy products.
