Russia pays part of Soviet debt with military spare supplies to Finland – report
The Russian Federation will reportedly pay outstanding debts to Finland, dating back to the Soviet Union, by supplying spares to the Finnish defence forces. The deliveries of spares to anti-aircraft systems, the BMP-2 light tank, the 2S5 self-propelled gun as well as ordnance for the cannon in the BMP-2 would reportedly amount to a total of EUR8m. The goods would be delivered during 2004, reported the Finnish news agency STT. One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.7 British pounds (GBP).
