Russian auditor to probe major oil companies in July
Moscow, 27 May: The Audit Chamber expects to complete probes into oil majors such as Lukoil, Yukos, Sibneft and Transneft in July, the head of the chamber, Sergey Stepashin, told reporters today. According to Stepashin, the Audit Chamber is to look into the oil corporations' "minimizing of tax and the consequent big losses sustained by the federal budget". "This is all taking place within the framework of the legislation," Stepashin said. Talking about the much-publicized audit in Chukotka, the chairman of the Audit Chamber pointed out that "things are already being put in order there".
