27 May 2004 15:32 Russian auditor to probe major oil companies in July Moscow, 27 May: The Audit Chamber expects to complete probes into oil majors such as Lukoil, Yukos, Sibneft and
Transneft in July, the head of the chamber, Sergey Stepashin, told reporters today.
According to Stepashin, the Audit Chamber is to look into the oil corporations' "minimizing of tax and the
consequent big losses sustained by the federal budget".
"This is all taking place within the framework of the legislation," Stepashin said.
Talking about the much-publicized audit in Chukotka, the chairman of the Audit Chamber pointed out that "things
are already being put in order there".
