27 May 2004 13:50 Russian Utility and Haestad Methods Demonstrate Water Distribution Modeling Solution at ECWATECH-2004 Mega
Event WATERBURY, Conn., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Ufavodokanal Municipal Enterprise, one of the largest and most advanced
municipal water supply and sewage treatment utilities in Russia, will showcase Haestad Methods' WaterCAD water
distribution modeling software at the ECWATECH-2004 Trade Fair and Congress running from June 1 - 4 in Moscow.
ECWATECH-2004 promises to provide a prime opportunity for Ufavodokanal (Booth No. E3.8) to highlight its innovative
services to over 10,000 key decision makers in the water resources industry. A total of 408 exhibitors from 21 countries
will be presenting cutting-edge technologies and services to professionals in the water supply, wastewater treatment,
water resources protection, and water quality control sectors in the post-USSR region.
Ufavodokanal will cover such hot topics as water resources management, modernization techniques, and integration of
models with GIS. The leading Russian utility will demonstrate the benefits of using WaterCAD's automated model
calibration and optimization capabilities for analyzing and designing improvements to water supply and distribution
systems.
Solving optimization problems would help ensure reliable operation in the northern and southern regions of the
country that are most frequently plagued with insufficient water distribution and purification capacities. This event
will enable both companies to acquaint attendees with Ufavodokanal's use of WaterCAD and how hydraulic simulations
can be used to vastly improve water pressure, water quality, and other water-related issues critical to Russia.
"Ufavodokanal has been using WaterCAD for approximately one year to manage its potable water distribution system
in Ufa City and has already achieved significant cost savings and GIS and billing system integration from its use,"
said Lev I. Kantor, Technical Director of Ufavodokanal Municipal Enterprise. "Ufavodokanal is positive that Haestad
Methods' WaterCAD will be able to contribute to the successful management of water utilities in Russia as well as
in Central and Eastern Europe."
"We are honored that Ufavodokanal requested Haestad Methods' participation at the ECWATECH
convention," said John Haestad, President and CEO of Haestad Methods. "We look forward to displaying the
versatility of WaterCAD and showing how easily it can be integrated into a utility's work stream."
