27 May 2004 13:19 Russia endorses 2005 ceiling on payment for natural monopoly services A government sitting today gave overall approval to proposals for maximum rises in charges for the services of
natural monopolies next year.
In 2005, growth in charges are planned at 20 per cent for gas, 9.5 per cent for electricity and 8.5 for
railway-transport services.
Summing up the discussion, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov noted the need for state control of charges for the
services of natural monopolies. The prime minister noted that the government is not yet happy with the situation in this
area.
