GEORGIA, GAZPROM TO AGREE DEBT REPAYMENT SCHEDULE
MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania agreed a timeframe on Monday for the payment of Georgian debt for gas, the company said in a press release. The press release did not give a date for the repayment of the debt, but said that a payment schedule will be agreed during a visit to Moscow by Georgian Energy Minister Nika Gilauri soon. At the meeting, Miller and Zhvania also discussed gas supplies to Georgia, current payments for gas, and the possibility for Gazprom participation in gas sales in the republic and in projects to develop the gas transport system. Georgia does not produce its own gas and the main source of gas for the republic is Central Asia. The share of natural gas in the Georgian energy balance is about 24%. Gas supplies to Georgia in 2003 amounted to about 1.009 bcm, including 257 million cubic meters under contracts with Gazexport and 752 mcm from Itera. Gazexport, a 100% Gazprom subsidiary, will supply all of Georgia's gas, or about 1 bcm, in 2004.
