Russia should play important role in Iraq settlement - U.S. congressman
MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - U.S. Congressman Curt Weldon, who is leading a U.S. Congress delegation visiting Moscow, said Russia should play an important role in settling the situation in Iraq since the terrorist threat emanating from that region is equally dangerous to both Russia and America. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Weldon said the international community must not allow political organizations, which threaten America, Russia, and other countries, to start acting again in Iraq. Weldon said the world cannot accept such things as the terrorist attack near the National Hotel in Moscow or the bombing in Oklahoma. A Chechen terrorist is as evil and dangerous to humankind as that of Hamas, and therefore the greatest effort possible should be made to secure the wellbeing of the Iraqi people and delegate power to their hands, the congressman said.
