Russian cabinet puts off discussion on gas monopoly reform until November
Moscow, 26 May: Russia's government has postponed the consideration of the reform of Russia's natural gas monopoly Gazprom until November, the deputy economic development and trade minister, Andrey Sharonov, told reporters on Wednesday [26 May]. In particular, the government plans to consider the natural gas market and the reform of the gas industry, he said, without providing any details about Gazprom's share market liberalization. [Passage omitted.] [Sharonov said the Industry and Energy Ministry had been put in charge of the reform, according to Interfax news agency, Moscow in Russian 1009 gmt 26 May 04. The reform had been expected to be discussed in July, the agency said.]
