24 May 2004 07:41 SEDMOI KONTINENT NETS OVER 160 RUBLES PROFIT IN Q1 MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Sedmoi Kontinent, owner of one of the largest food retail changes in Russia, turned
162.019 million rubles in net profits in the first quarter of 2004, where it incurred 15.284million rubles of net losses
in the same period one year earlier.
Official company documents say Sedmoi Kontinent saw first-quarter earnings of 3.306 billion rubles (2.381 billion
rubles in January-March of 2003) and gross profits of 902.02 million rubles (578.558 million rubles).
The documents say pretax profits came to 215.107 million rubles against losses in the first quarter of last year.
Sedmoi Kontinent has three store formats now: Syem Shagov (Seven Steps), Sedmoi Kontinent-Universam and Pyat Zvyozd
(Five Stars), 51 stores in all. The company's main shareholders are 7K Invest Holding and Stolichniye Gastronomy.
The company employs over 7,000 workers.
