ABOUT RM50 million (RM190 million) changed hands at a fur auction last month during a sale of about 500,000 animal fur pelts. Fur from animals such as the sable, mink and fox went under the hammer at the 163rd international fur auction in St Petersburg, Russia. The industry that ultimately services human vanity has seen an increase in sales in the past few years. It may be good news to those in the trade but it's not good news to me. Whether it's animals bred for the purpose or those caught in the wild, it doesn't make a difference - they should not be used to trim our coats and adorn our necks. It's degrading. It's cruel.
