Chelsea owner buys $1bn jet
Roman Abramovich made another big purchase. This time he acquired an airplane for about $1bn.

Citing The Times, the BBC reports that the airliner had been acquired last year, but the news did not come out until recently. Right after the acquisition, the Boeing 767 was sent to Switzerland for refurbishment.

Mr. Abramovich’s aircraft has spacious living quarters with bathrooms, plasma TVs and "a lot of mahogany and walnut and gold”. It will take another 7-8 months to complete the refurbishment.

The Times noted that Mr. Abramovich already has a Boeing 737, a yacht with a helicopter landing pad and a submarine.

For its part, the Novye Izvestiya newspaper reported about Mr. Abramovich’s another large purchase. According to the newspaper, he has purchased a palace on the English Embankment in St. Petersburg.

Officials in the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historic and Cultural Monuments say Roman Abramovich is a very good owner.
