Russia denies Council of Europe envoy access to Yukos case prisoners
[Moscow's] Meshchanskiy Court has denied a representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe [PACE] permission to meet former Yukos head Mikhail Khodorkovskiy and Menatep head Platon Lebedev. The RBK [Rosbizneskonsaltig news agency] reports that the chairman of the court based her decision on the rule that only close relatives, lawyers and priests are allowed access to prison inmates. Let me remind you that the PACE representative came to Moscow especially to prepare a report for the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Europe on the situation with Yukos.
