Gorbachev quits as leader of Russia`s Social Democrats
Moscow, 22 May: [Former USSR President] Mikhail Gorbachev has resigned his position as the Social Democratic Party of Russia leader. This happened at today's meeting of the party's political council, which was held behind closed doors. The sitting is continuing. Those close to Gorbachev have not yet made any comments.
