Mass redundancies at troubled Russian mine
Mass redundancies have been announced at the Yeniseyskaya mine in Chernogorsk [Khakassia] where 175 miners have been on a hunger strike for the last six days seeking payment of back wages: 269 of 389 staff will be dismissed. Only the support services will be left at the mine. Those made redundant include almost all of those involved in the two hunger strikes - the current one and strike in April. The Chernogorsk prosecutor's office is currently inspecting the financial affairs of the new lessee of the Yeniseyskaya mine, the private entrepreneur Anatoliy Makhmudov.
