Kyrgyzstan, Rostelecom discuss price of Kyrgyztelecom stake
BISHKEK. May 20 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan continues its talks with Russian long distance provider Rostelecom on the price of a 51% stake in national telecoms operator Kyrgyztelecom, Tatiana Nagavitsina, a spokeswoman for the Kyrgyzstan State Property Committee, told Interfax. The Kyrgyztelecom privatization tender committee was unable to reach an agreement with the winner of the tender - Swedtel so the State Property Committee wrote to Rostelecom, the other contestant, asking it to repeat its bid. In its official reply, Rostelecom proposed lowering the price from what it had originally offered, which Kyrgyzstan refused. Rostelecom then proposed a new price, but it is still lower than the $15.29 million bid at tender. Talks continue. The official exchange rate on May 20 stood at 43.8649 som/$1.
