19 May 2004 05:54 Russia`s industrial output may grow by 20-25% in 2007 MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The growth of industrial output in Russia in 2007 may be 19.8%-25.1% of output in 2003,
depending on the country's economic development, a source in the Russian Industry, Science and Technology Ministry
told Interfax.
The source referred to a forecast on the development of various industrial branches of Russia for 2005-2007, which
has been prepared by the ministry.
The source said the growth of industrial output in these branches
in 2005 is expected to be 3.8-3.83 trillion rubles in 2003 prices,
"In the industrial branches that are overseen by the Industry, Science and Technology Ministry [all branches
except for agriculture, fuel and energy, and communications], the expected growth of output compared to the output of
2003 will be 27.6% to 30.9%," the source said.
which will be 4.8%-5.6% more than in 2004. The same indicators for 2006 will be 4.017 - 4.088 trillion rubles, which
would be 5.7% - 6.6% more than in 2005. In 2007, growth should be 6.5% - 7.4%, and the output will reach 4.28 - 4.39
trillion rubles in 2003 prices.
"The machine building and metal processing branch should grow more than others over the next several years. In
2007, output growth in this branch will be 45.6% to 49.7%, compared to the level of 2003," the source said.
He said the least growth in 2007 will be in the textiles industry - 6.1 to 9.3% of the 2003 level.
The source said that the ministry's forecast has been sent to the Economic Development Ministry, where a
