Foreign investment growth in Ukraine slows 14.4% in Q1
MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Growth in foreign direct investment in the Ukrainian economy in the first quarter 2004 amounted to $216.3 million, which is 14.4% less than in the same period last year and 58.2% less than in the pervious quarter. The Ukrainian State Statistics Committee told Interfax that total foreign direct investment amounted to $6.95 billion as of April 1. Foreign investors invested $282.2 million in the Ukrainian economy in January-March this year, compared with $295.2 million a year earlier, including $8.7 million from the CIS, compared with $20 million a year earlier. However, at the same time investors withdrew $50.7 million, compared with $73.3 million a year earlier.
