Russia to bid for Bulgaria nuclear power plant project
Russia "plans to participate" in a tender to complete the construction of Bulgaria's Belene nuclear power plant, the chairman of Russia's Federal Atomic Energy Agency, Aleksandr Rumyantsev, announced on Thursday [20 May]. The Atomstroyeksport state company is likely to represent Russia in the tender, he said, as quoted by the Russian news agency Prime-TASS. The company, he said, could bid in the tender in a consortium with a foreign partner, which "could be the Franco-German company Framatome", the report said. "Negotiations are currently under way as to the responsibilities the companies would take in the consortium," Prime-TASS said with reference to Rumyantsev's statement. In particular, Framatome could supply equipment for the plant, while Russia could supply fuel, the report added.
