Rally in support of Russia`s political prisoners in progress in Moscow
[No dateline, as received] A rally in support of political prisoners of recent times is going on in Pushkinskaya Ploshchad [Square] in Moscow. Approximately 100 people have gathered here, an Ekho Moskvy radio correspondent says. Human rights watchers and representatives of democratic forces are taking part in the rally, Lev Ponomarev, the leader of the movement "For human rights", and Valeriya Novodvorskaya, a human rights watcher, among them. The participants of the rally are holding placards which say "Hands off!", "Freedom!" and "We do not want to become hostages!" The organizers of the rally says that the presence or absence of political prisoners in a country is a "barometer of the authorities' tolerance".
