20 May 2004 11:00 Russian envoy to EU to be appointed "very soon" - Kremlin source Moscow, 20 May: A Russian representative to the EU "will be appointed very soon", a source in the Kremlin
has reported to journalists. However, the source categorically refused to name both the candidates who are being
considered and the precise time when the appointment will be made.
The source in the president's administration noted that the appointment of a Russian representative to the EU is
preceded by fairly complex bureaucratic procedures.
Until February Russia's representative to the EU was the present prime minister, Mikhail Fradkov. The post has
been vacant since that time.
