Russian government to restore public health institutions in Chechnya
[No dateline, as received] The Russian government has decided to restore public health institutions in Chechnya, director of the federal service for supervising the protection of consumers' rights and human well-being Gennadiy Onishchenko has told Russian Ekho Moskvy radio. After the trip to Groznyy of the government delegation headed by Minister of Economic Development German Gref, it was decided to review the list of institutions to be restored. "Outside of TV coverage Gref visited Hospital No 9 where the victims of the [9 May] terrorist attack are being treated, as well as republican maternity home No 1, which had not yet been restored, although the republic has a very high birth rate", Onishchenko said. "There are a great deal of problems related to public health in Groznyy," he said. "No work to restore water supplies, sewers or housing is going on".
