140 workers go on hunger strike in Yeniseiskaya coal mine
ABAKAN. May 17 (Interfax-Siberia) - Workers of the Yeniseiskaya coal mine in Khakasia went on a hunger strike on Monday to demand payment of wage arrears. About 140 workers are taking part in the hunger strike, a source in the Khakasia government told Interfax. The coal mine administration and the Chernogorsk town authorities promised to pay the salary debt before May 15 after the first hunger strike in Yeniseiskaya, which began on April 19. Participants in the ten-day strike received about 1 million rubles altogether, but the main debt was never repaid. Workers who did not take part in the hunger strike received no money at all.
