Russia - Uralsvyazinform sees rise in subscriber numbers
Uralsvyazinform, state-owned telecoms operator, reports net profit of Rouble537.4 mil for 1st-qtr 2004, vs Rouble369.2 mil for the year-earlier period. The company saw its fixed line subscriber base rise to 3.2 mil users in 1st-qtr 2004, vs 3 mil users in the year-earlier period. The mobile phone subscriber base rose to 1.3 mil from 0.5 mil users. The company has earmarked USDlr20 mil for investment over a two-year period to expand its mobile telecoms operations.
