Russian prosecution bans land law constraints imposed by northern governor
Yekaterinburg, 17 May: The Ural Federal District branch of the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office has found that the governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area has introduced extra requirements on land privatization. To have their applications considered, citizens wanting to privatize a plot of land now have to provide additional documents in excess of what is envisaged by the federal legislation. This runs counter to Article 36 of the Land Code of the Russian Federation and a direct ban imposed by the Russian government's Resolution No 576, the press service of the Deputy Prosecutor-General in the Ural Federal District has told RIA-Novosti. In this connection, Russian Deputy Prosecutor-General Yuriy Zolotov has filed an objection against the regional regulation to be considered within 10 days according to current legislation.
