Russia to supply Czechs with military helicopters in debt repayment deal
Berlin, 16 May: Russia will deliver 29 new helicopters to the Czech Republic as part of state debt repayment, ITAR-TASS has learnt from the Czech delegation at the ILA 2004 international aerospace exhibition, which ends [in Berlin] today. Pursuant to the accords reached earlier, Russia - through its Rosoboroneksport company [state arms exporter] - will deliver 18 Mi-171 military transport helicopters and 11 Mi-35 helicopter gunships worth a total of 152m euros. The helicopter deal is part of the Russian Federation's repayment of its state debt to the Czech Republic, which totals 588m euros, the Czech delegation said. Last year, seven Mi-35 helicopters were supplied to the Czech Republic along the same lines.
