13 May 2004 02:22 Russia, Iran discuss Bushehr progress MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Officials from Russia and Iran discussed the pace of construction at Bushehr Nuclear
Power Plant at a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, the press service of the Russian Atomic Energy Ministry, which is
currently being restructured as the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, said.
Participating in the talks were: Federal Atomic Energy Agency chief Alexander Rumyantsev, representatives from
ministries and the company Atomstroiexport, and from Iran - Iranian Ambassador to Russia Golamreza Shafei and Vice
President of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Asadollah Saburi.
"The sides discussed issues connected with the pace of construction of the first power-producing units at
Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, preparation of a contract to supply fresh nuclear fuel for Iranian nuclear plants and the
return of spent fuel to Russia," the press service said.
"This was a typical traditional working meeting between representatives from both countries concerning the
construction of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plan," the source said.
He also said that a visit by Rumyantsev to Iran would be decided through diplomatic channels.
Russia is currently building the first power-producing units at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant under an
intergovernmental agreement. The contract is worth over $800 million.
