Transneft, Transnefteprodukt merger may cut costs - Alekperov
MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - The merging of Transneft with Transnefteprodukt may lead to a reduction in expenditure, including on the transportation of oil and oil products, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov told journalists. He said that he is in favor of studying the possibility of merging these two monopolies. "The issue of merging related structures is currently being discussed in various departments," he said. If these two pipeline monopolies are merged, it will be possible to pool the resources of the unified company to develop the most important transport routes, without setting up parallel infrastructure, he said. Alekperov said that the operation of isolated pipeline infrastructure is not effective.
